The Nashville Dental Society is a 501(c)6 professional organization dedicated to supporting dentists in their commitment to improve the dental health of the community. A local component the Tennessee Dental Association and American Dental Association, NDS serves more than 600 member dentists in Davidson, Macon, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, Wilson, and Williamson counties. The Executive Director manages the operations of the executive office of the Society and reports to the NDS Board of Directors. 




  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board of Directors and providing information necessary for the board to make informed decisions.

  • Coordinate and attend meetings of the Board of Directors and committees. Prepare agendas, reports and draft minutes of meetings for approval by the Society’s Secretary.

  • Follow up with the volunteers responsible for action items and provide administrative assistance in accomplishing those tasks on time.

  • Responsible for carrying out the strategic plan initiatives of the organization.



  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the Society, to include submission of a proposed annual budget to the budget & finance committee and quarterly financial statements to the Board of Directors which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.

  • Responsible for fiscal management. Operate the Society within the approved budget. Maintain the Society in a positive financial position.

  • Responsible for sponsorship development and other fundraising necessary to support the mission of the Society.

  • Reconcile the bank statements, make deposits on behalf of the Society, prepare checks for the Treasurer’s signature.

  • Provide CPA with financial information to conduct annual review and prepare tax return.

Membership Recruitment & Retention

  • Coordinate with the state association staff to follow-up on membership dues.

  • Report membership metrics to the Board of Directors.

  • Seek to implement new ways of recruiting, engaging, and retaining members.


Meetings & Events

  • Coordinate with the Program & Membership Committee to develop continuing education programs and other member events.

  • Assist the committee with arrangements for speakers.

  • Secure venues for in-person meetings & events. Set up and host virtual meetings.

  • Responsible onsite management of meetings and events.


Publications & Communications

  • Create and distribute monthly newsletter via email.

  • Create and distribute registration materials for events.

  • Maintain the website with up-to-date information about the Society.



  • Responsible for effective administration of daily operations of the Society.

  • Responsible for reviewing and obtaining appropriate signatures on all contracts and/or agreements on behalf of the organization.

  • Responsible for reviewing and timely submission all local, state, and federal filings.



  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four–year university or equivalent experience.

  • Association management or non-profit management experience a plus.

  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.

  • Budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.

  • Skills to collaborate with members and volunteer leaders.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Detailed oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Motivated, self-starter able to work alone and achieve goals without direct supervision.

  • Ability to attend some evening meetings.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, QuickBooks.



  • SEP-IRA retirement – association funded.

  • Generous paid time off.

  • Office in the Franklin/Cool Springs area. Telecommuting allowed.



  • 30 hour per week schedule.

  • Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience.

  • No relocation assistance.
